At George & Annie Starck Homes, we recognise that life’s later stages may bring increased care needs, whether that be due to frailty, chronic illness, or cognitive decline, such as dementia.

Our Frail-Care & Dementia Support Units are designed to provide a safe, dignified, purposeful home for residents who require 24-hour professional care, within the warm, community-oriented setting for which Starck Homes is known.

What We Offer
  • 24-hour professional nursing care:
    Staffed and supervised by qualified nurses to manage medical, personal and comfort needs around the clock.
  • Individualised care plans:
    Each resident is assessed on admission and supported with a personalised plan that evolves over time to meet changing needs.
  • Safe, secure, comfortable accommodation:
    Rooms (single and shared, depending on unit) with emergency nurse-call buttons, built-in cupboards and wash-basins; bathrooms, showers and ablution facilities designed for frail or mobility-impaired residents.
  • Specialist dementia & memory-loss support:
    For those living with Alzheimer’s, other dementias or cognitive impairment, we offer structured routines, memory-support programmes, safe enclosed areas, familiar surroundings and a calm, reassuring environment.
  • Meals & nutrition:
    Three wholesome meals daily plus two teas, with adaptation for special diets (diabetic, soft/pureed, texture-modified, etc) and personalised nutritional monitoring.
  • Laundry, housekeeping & personal comfort:
    Cleaning of the resident’s room, linen service, communal living rooms, lounges and gardens allow for social interaction and family visits in a comfortable environment.
  • Recreation, therapy & purpose:
    Regular social activities, gentle exercise groups, handcraft/game mornings, outings, library access, hairdresser, chapel and religious services — all within reach in our broader campus community.
  • Security, stability & peace of mind:
    24-hour security and access control, fixed monthly tariffs, and the assurance of a long-established institution with decades of experience in caring for older persons.
  • Family engagement & communication:
    We welcome family involvement, provide regular updates, encourage visits, and invite families to participate in care-planning meetings so that the resident’s story, preferences and history continue to shape their daily life.
Entry Requirements & Pricing

Entry requirements:

  • Applicants must be assessed to determine level of frailty or memory-impairment and suitability for our dementia-capable unit.
  • Admission documentation including medical records, power of attorney / decision-maker forms, and a signed care agreement.
  • For dementia unit admissions, we recommend an initial evaluation by your physician/geriatric specialist and involvement of the family in transition planning.

Current monthly tariff:

  • Our full-time permanent residence in the Dimentia/Frail-Care Facility: R 23 482 per month.
    (Includes: 3 meals daily, morning and afternoon tea/coffee, cleaning of the room, laundry service, access to communal facilities and nursing care. Excludes separate medical-costs and personal incidentals.)
  • A non-refundable admission fee of R23,482 is payable on confirmation of admission. Waiting lists may apply for specialised dementia beds, we encourage early enquiry.
