In May 2013 we had the pleasure of hosting David Grier, inspirational speaker, celebrity chef and adventurer from Cape Town. He and his running partner, Braam Malherbe raised money for the Operation Smile, a non-profit organisation that provides free reconstructive surgery to children suffering from cleft lips and palates. They completed the 4000km along the wall of China, over a period of 4 months. ”Courage doesn’t always roar”. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day, saying ”I will try again tomorrow”

In October 2008, David Grier returned from running the “smile of Africa” completing almost 4000km around the coastline of  S.A from Namibia to Mozambique. During October 2011 David Grier and his support team ran the length of India in one attempt (It was never been done before). In spite of problems, sickness, hospitalisation and military arrests, David finally reached the Southern tip of India after completing the run of 4008km in 93 days.

Being an asthmatic, David showed asthmatic children that they can do everything if they put their mind to it (the only limitations we impose on ourselves are those in our minds). What a wonderful morning we spent with David. We would like to wish him and his team good luck as well as health with their future challenges!!
