As you might know, we have had a feathery friend in our midst since October last year. A small Egyptian goose which was found just outside the George and Annie front gate and was rescued and promptly named ‘Surprise’ by Zwanette and Gideon Liebenberg.
They have taken good care of Surprise who soon became a popular and regular addition in and around Willow Lodge. She developed quickly and it soon became apparent that a bigger, more goose-friendly environment was needed for our beloved Surprise.
Gideon went to great lengths to find a new home for Surprise and after a few weeks of searching for the most suitable environment, found her a fantastic home at Butterfly World near Stellenbosch. The lush, children friendly environment will no doubt be well suited for her and Surprise is sure to crawl into the hearts of many young and old visitors there.
Egyptian Geese originate from Africa and were considered sacred by ancient Egyptians and appeared in many of their art work.
Our Surprise had a loving nature and will be dearly missed!
